It’s Friday. A day I usually post on this blog that I began just a month ago. As I explored over the past few days what I wanted to share today, every trail my pencil followed seemed to close in on itself. Maybe I haven’t received every lesson there is to learn about those stories yet? That thought surprisingly excites me a little. There’s something hidden that I’ve yet to discover. An a-ha moment that I look forward to uncovering and sharing on another day. Cool.
So, for today, I will silence my inner perfectionist and close the page. Ready to enjoy a day in the mountains with some of the people I love best in the world. That’s what this writing practice is supposed to be about anyway – enhancing my experience of life, not replacing it. The air is quiet and calm, punctuated by conversation down on the dock – talk of fishing, sailing, and snorkeling among the lily pads. My parents have gone into town for a grocery run. I am on the deck, happy and content to take it all in. Sitting in the shade with a lake for a backyard. Soon I will head for the sunshine and get my feet wet. I hear the water is pretty warm this week.

Sometimes the only thing to do is to open our arms wide and enjoy the gifts of the day. Actually, that is always the thing to do. No matter where we are or what the day holds. Open our arms wide and say thank you. Gifts all around if we have eyes to see them.
May we always have eyes to see.
